Press Conference - Signature of the Tripartite Convention
Press conference - EENA's speech
11 February 2009 marks the second edition of the European 112 Day (11/2) with the aim of informing EU citizens on the European emergency number 112. More and more Member States now organise the 112 Day on that same date such as Finland, Romania, Netherlands, Poland and Denmark. The organisation of the European 112 Day follows the efforts of the EU to promote the 112 and on that day, a Tripartite Convention between European Parliament, European Commission and the Council on the establishment of the official European 112 day on 11th of February could be signed (as proposed by the European Parliament). The signature of this convention would provide more recognition for the 112.
The European Parliament will invite the singer Nara Noian to perform the 112 anthem with a children choir. The lyrics of the 112 anthem were proposed by EU citizens themselves thanks to a competition held on Internet and will recognize the best texts in all official EU languages. The Commission, the Council and several Members of the European Parliament will also present to the audience the perspectives and challenges for our emergency number.

112 Day in EU Member States
Czech Republic
The Czech Republic as EU Presidency strongly supports the European 112 Day. It is a great opportunity to highlight and promote importance of the European emergency number 112.
On this occasion The Fire Rescue Service of the Czech Republic - responsible for the implementation of the 112 in the Czech Republic - prepared several events.
Czech fire-fighters will inform about the 112 all travellers on the Prague airport. The information campaign is going to bring high visibility to the event thanks to use of modern technology. In the same time Fire Rescue Brigades from other cities will participate in the event organising events on the local scale.
In the same time the General Directorate of FRS of Czech Republic will officially launch the public competition for the best painting dealing with the 112.
112 Day is a national event that draws attention to safety every year on 11 February. This year's 112 Day is the 12th in Finland.
Events are being organised across Finland to raise awareness of hazards and accident prevention. Many accidents, fires and crimes can be prevented through systematic measures and we can all do a lot to improve the safety of ourselves and those near us.
112 Day is also a reminder of the national emergency number 112 and what to do if something goes wrong despite all the precautions taken. Each 112 Day also has an annual theme.
112 Days are organised by Finland's rescue services, the Emergency Response Centre Administration, the police, social and health care services and the Border Guard, including search and rescue at sea. 112 Day has been an annual event in Finland since 1997.
ComReg (the Irish Telecommunications and Postal Services Regulator) has lent its support to the European 112 Day but placing key consumer information on its consumer website www.askcomreg.ie in order to highlight awareness of the 112 number within Ireland and to highlight the celebrations on the 11th .
