The EENA & the EU
EENA has been working actively to promote the idea of a better known, efficient and transparent 112 service chain throughout the European Union by advocating action at EU and national levels. Since 2003 EENA has been introducing complaints and petitions with the European Commission, the European Ombudsman and the European Parliament to help them understand the importance of the 112 for European Citizens. Following a petition to the European Parliament in 2006, several MEPs have been working in close collaboration with the EENA to improve the knowledge and the efficiency of the 112 within the EU. In 2007 and 2008, two Written Declarations were adopted with the support of the EENA. The Written Declaration on the European emergency number 112 still holds the record of signatures (530).
