European Commission's worries on e-call

The European Commission warned the Member States  on December 11th regarding the implementation of e-call systems to European Cars: "While there has been significant progress at European level, some Member States have been slow to invest in infrastructure, and industry now refuses further action".

EENA warned the Commission several times that until no multidisciplinary committee on emergency telecommunications is set up with the objective to issue the user's requirements and provide a framework with best practices on legal and technical aspects, it is useless to expect any significant progress in Member States regarding e-call system and calls to 112 (also used by the e-call system). These were the arguments exposed by EENA in European Voice, June 2005.
