European Emergency Number Association - EENA 112

The 1st European Security and Safety Summit will take place under the first European edition of Govsec, Law Enforcement and Ready!Europe. This event will be held under the patronage of the European Commission and national governments from whom we received support. High-level politicians such as Commissioners, Members of the European Parliament, Senators and Ministers from several countries will take part in the event.
Ready! is the Emergency Preparedness and Response Conference and Exposition, dedicated to providing the solutions first responders need to coordinate incident planning and management efforts. EENA will contribute to this event by providing sessions dedicated to all aspects of emergency telecommunications (112, interoperability and alert systems issues).

112 Awards will also be delivered during the Gala Dinner and the 112 Awards Ceremony to individuals and organizations for: courage of a citizen, a child or emergency services representatives, performances and results of emergency services, partnership between emergency services and private entities, citizens' initiative and european project. EENA managed to put the emergency telecommunications issue at the top of the European Parliament's political agenda
The Press Conference for the official launch of the initiative available at www.112petition.eu was a great success. 2 Vice Presidents and 3 Members of the European Parliament took the floor and announced their commitment to this initiative.
With more than 50 MEPs, 4 Vice Presidents, a former president of the European Parliament supporting the initiative, EENA succeeded in drawing the attention of elected representatives on this highly important matter. The press review available below demonstrates the interest for this topic all over the world!
It is now up to you to make this initiative known around you! It is therefore of great importance that you disseminate the petition within your networks.

EENA participated to the European Commission's consultations on Health Services & Electronic Communications Networks and Services.
EENA at the European Parliament
Parliamentary questions to the European Commission have been sent by Mrs. Piia-Noora Kauppi, Member of the European Parliament. The Commission also answered questions from Mr. Gérard Onesta (Vice President of the European Parliament) and Mr. Marc Tarabella (Member of the European Parliament).

Once more, EENA brought evidence that the European Commission published inadequate information regarding implementation of 112
EENA got the confirmation that the information published by the Commission 18 months ago stating that France "locates calls to 112" is wrong. France confirmed to EENA that calls to 112 are not yet located (see below).
Moreover, the Commission received this information on December 25th but continues pretending to Mr. Onesta, Vice President of the European Parliament, that it is not aware of this fact (See the answer from the Commission to Mr. Onesta).

Participation Sought for a Study into Emergency Call Taking & Dispatch Performance Standards
My name is Michael Moriarty and I work in the emergency management sector (government) in Melbourne, Australia. I am conducting a study of performance standards used for emergency services call taking and dispatch in various countries, as part of a Masters Degree at the University of Melbourne.
I am seeking participation by emergency services telecommunication centres, which simply involves filling out a brief questionnaire on the internet. If you wish to participate please use this link to the questionnaire:
